OAKLANDS STREET COMMUNITY GARDENS If you are looking for something to do and you love gardening, maybe pop along to Oaklands Street Community Garden and give a hand with your green thumb. Established in 2005, it operates under the licence of Redland City Council and tends to an extensive area looked after by volunteers.

The Rotary Club of Cleveland is pleased to announce its 22nd annual charity golf event, which will be held at Redland Bay Golf Club (RBGC) on 3 November 2023. During the past 21 years, Cleveland Rotary has raised about $400,000 ($600,000 in today’s value) for deserving local causes such as Mater Hospital Auxiliary, Redland Foundation, and the Rotary Foundation, as well as many other local charities.  This year’s beneficiaries will also include Redland Community Centre, and Special Olympics Australia – Redlands Club.

Rotary is the World’s most respected charitable organisation (over 100 years of service, with 1.4 million members in over 30,000 clubs around the globe), and local Rotary Clubs do great things for local communities. ROSIE CHANGED LIVES – A RETROSPECTIVE Is an exhibition celebrating the works of Rosemary Opala who chronicled her thoughts and life as a nurse in the 40’s & 50’s. COMMUNITY WORK SKILLS PROGRAM PCYC is offering this course for anyone 15 years (NOT ATTENDING SCHOOL), and older for those in the Redlands who would like to reskill for employment opportunities in the retail sector. The course runs for 10 weeks and is at no cost to participants, with you gaining a Cert 11 in Retail, and are supported in gaining other certs such as First Aid. Breakfast and lunch are also provided daily.

BOWEL CANCER A free bowel screening test is one of the best ways to prevent bowel cancer and invest in a healthy future for yourself and family. Health experts reveal bowel cancer is the fourth most frequently diagnosed related killer in Australia, but many of these deaths could be prevented. To reduce the number of people impacted by this disease the NATIONAL BOWEL CANCER SCREENING PROGRAM, sends out free bowel cancer screening kits to eligible people between the ages of 50 to 74.
