LIME GREEN LID BINS ARE FOR GREEN WASTE ONLY

Redlands Council is wanting to remind residents’ to only place organic waste from their garden into their green waste bin with the lime lid. Mayor Karen Williams has said the only items from you garden like grass clippings, palm fronds, small branches, hedge clippings, weeds, leaves, loose bark, shrubs and sawdust should be placed in this bin. Under any circumstance use it for extra general waste (red lid) or recycling (yellow lid) bins, as doing so undoes all your efforts to recycle your greens waste. Organic green waste we turn back into valuable garden products like mulch, compost or soil conditioners, which we use to help keep our city naturally wonderful. Further info visit Council’s website.

BITUMEN BANDITS SCAM

Police are urging Bris / Bayside residents to remain very wary of these scam artists known as the “Bitumen Bandits,” that offer to lay bitumen at such a great deal, often asking for deposits at that moment, and then usually never completing the job.   Things to look out for are: Going door to door, may speak with a strong Irish accent, quote literally too good to be true!, Demanding payment that day before they even start the job.  If you are concerned a legitimate contractor will give you a quote and leave it all up to you, so if in doubt don’t pay anything upfront. If you think you’ve been a target report via Policelink website.
